Whether it was poor choreography or not, I think it makes sense for Eowyn as a character. She wasn't trained from birth to be a fighter, she wasn't given the same opportunities as male warriors - she had to make herself a warrior from scratch. She is good, but because of the environment she lives in, she is not allowed to be as amazing as she could be.

I disagree. It's very likely she could've been an even more amazing warrior if she'd had more training and battle experience, but Eowyn is still supposed to be pretty damn good. She not only survives the battle-- something many other far more trained, experienced fighters didn't manage to do-- she also defeats the biggest bad guy on the opposing side. That sounds like someone who's supposed to look pretty badass. If she doesn't, it might be poor choreography or poor acting, but it sure as hell isn't in character.
