Notes:
Important: I'm really sorry about this, but I accidentally misclicked and deleted the submission post from last week instead of saving it. Managed to save the first page (25) of secrets, but the rest (about 100 or so) are gone.
If you submitted something last week (Aug 26-Sept 1), please resubmit it here.
The submissions post for next week is below as usual.
Secrets Left to Post: ?? pages, ??? secrets from Secret Submission Post #296.
Secrets Not Posted: [ 0 - broken links ], [ 0 - not!secrets ], [ 0 - not!fandom ], [ 0 - too big ], [ 0 - repeat ].
Current Secret Submissions Post: here.
Suggestions, comments, and concerns should go here.

(Anonymous) 2012-09-05 11:34 pm (UTC)(link)These days I've learned that if someone says "science fiction is crap" they have no idea what they're talking about. They think "science fiction" is Star Wars, instead of the speculative fiction that speaks to the truths of human nature that it often is in the hands of so many wonderful and well-respected writers.
Also, c'mon, who doesn't like spaceships?

(Anonymous) 2012-09-06 04:20 am (UTC)(link)Yeah, the protagonist in my story was just a shut-in that related better to inanimate objects than animate ones. Really, watching everyone make up things was hilarious, and further reinforced the notion I've had all the way through school that just because my interpretation doesn't match the teacher's doesn't mean it's wrong. Blergh.
The irony is that this teacher took a shit on fantasy, then had us read a story that could be labeled fantasy, all things considered. There was no spells or fairies or elves, but it was in some weird new world with its own geography and cultures and history and all about this 55 year old dude in a mid-life crisis that screwed this younger girl (like 20s, not pedo) and got thrown in jail because of it. (And then I looked at the back of the book and--oh hi there, 55 year old dude author.)
Also, everyone secretly likes spaceships, they just don't want to admit it. *sagenod*
