I heard that Kishimoto wanted to quit writing Naruto, and write something else, but he wasn't able to. If that's the case, I can kind of see where he's coming from now, with the "whatever, I'll just write whatever the fuck I want to" mentality, but still!

Really? Uh, that'd explain many things. It's not the first time that publishers/authors conflicts turn into this kind of mess (Shaman King, you were so good and then...). But still, indeed!
