She was out of line, and wrong. Every hairdresser I've had has complimented the condition of my hair, and praised me for not over-styling it. Styling your hair every day is what makes you have to treat it with special stuff: leaving it mostly alone is looking after it.

And I wash it every day mostly, but that's because my hair is fine and straight, so it gets greasy and ratty if I don't. If your hair doesn't do that, then no you don't need to wash it more often. And the less you wash it, generally the better condition the hair will be in (assuming you aren't going swimming or whatever). If your hair is wavy or curly, chances are it would be a nightmare if you washed it every day.

So either you had a really crappy hairdresser, or your mother paid her to say ridiculous shit.

Thank you. Yeah, I'm really not sure why she would be recommending styling it all the time, since she also does my mother's hair, who has had it permed and dyed so many times it's gotten really brittle.

She phrased it in this douchey way, like clearly I was a lazy slob for not doing what "all the other girls your age are doing" and I'm like no I'm pretty sure I know people who don't do that.

Lol, sadly that's possible since they're friends. But the other two hairdressers in the salon agreed with her.
