Notes:

Important: I'm really sorry about this, but I accidentally misclicked and deleted the submission post from last week instead of saving it. Managed to save the first page (25) of secrets, but the rest (about 100 or so) are gone.

If you submitted something last week (Aug 26-Sept 1), please resubmit it here.

The submissions post for next week is below as usual.

Secrets Left to Post: ?? pages, ??? secrets from Secret Submission Post #296.

Homestuck fandom is basically like New York City. It's FUCKING HUGE, so of course there are some crazy people. There are every kind of people, nice people and jerks and nice people who are in a bad mood today, brilliant driven people and fun slackers and dumbasses on the streetcorners screaming about THE TRUTH!!!1! to everyone who passes by.

There are some really nasty parts where you don't really want to go, and that's where the bad shit happens, so that's what's on the news, and what everyone outside of it sees the most of. But a more accurate picture is that it's a freaking amazing, vibrant, exciting place, where people are just doing a freaking ton of cool shit *all the time* and you can never keep up with all the awesome stuff that's happening, but you can be part of it and enjoy your little piece of it and the people you've made friends with, and how there is always more to discover, as long as you keep your head and watch out for which alleys you're going down.

Best analogy ever.

You know, I think that's a perfect analogy in that I've also never met a New Yorker who wasn't convinced that New York is the best fucking city in the whole wide world and you'd have to be an idiot to not want to live there. And they are rabid about that, refusing to listen to anyone who simply might have different tastes.

Which also applies to Homestuck fans, who might not all think I'm an idiot for just not being all that interested in it, but well. The vocal ones sure have.

Good job. Nail head hit.

Wow, I'm sorry you've only met snooty New Yorkers. I've known some all my life (one of my mother's best, oldest friends is a NYC lawyer) and none of them ever gave me shit for saying it was too big and too busy for me.

I mean, you've basically diagnosed your own source of stereotype there: the vocal ones. Evangelists evangelize. Chill people chill with the people that already are/want to be there.
