Well, he's no Christian Grey, but I think he can be quite emotionally abusive. I know some of it can be brushed off by saying he's a vampire, but he's still an asshole.

But at least Bella is just as bad herself. Those books are just about horrible people being horrible to each other.

HAY GURL! Yeah, exactly--at least Wuthering Heights is meant to be crazy and Gothic and disturbing. Emily Bronte wasn't going around saying "this is totally ideal, ladies!"

It's a bad thing when it's meant to be taken as an epic romance. Horrible people being horrible to each other only works in tragedy and comedy.
