That's great. She grew out of it.

But she still had the, "I want to bang the Doctor phase." Why did she even have to through that phase to begin with?

Also doesn't excuse the almost-cheating. :/

I guess I just wish that I didn't have to go through crap to get to the good part.

I'm just gonna come off anon. Also, I'm on my way out the door so I don't have much to say but yeah, I agree with you on everything. And I could definitely get into Rose/Kanaya/Vriska. I think I have seen some fanart for it, I'll go looking for it when I get back home.

eleven is great, it's everything else that's awful

i really like this comment and it sums up my feelings on the direction that moffat is taking the show

No, I can't either. Steve is 100% Hufflepuff, though. (Not just because it's the "throwaway" house either, I think he genuinely has a lot of good Huff qualities.)

I'm learning to love Hufflepuff, since I got Sorted there. At first I was pretty disappointed but decided not to be a dick about it and embrace it. I wanted Slytherin, actually. Plus, badgers are cool. Not as cool as snakes, which are literally one of my favorite animals, but pretty damn awesome in their own right.

but Porrim is pre-scratch...?

When you said post-scratch I thought you mean Dolorosa

ahh, gotcha. That makes sense. Sarcasm detector malfunction on my part xD;;

Huh. They did say post-scratch. I wouldn't know where the Dolorosa/dudes would've come from since the only rom relationship in canon was the slave one with Mindfang.

I always get confused what to call the ancestors when it comes to scratching.

This is quite possibly the best description of Moffat's range of female characters I have ever read in my life.

Agreed. Tony could go to one of many houses, but most of the others are pretty firm: Steve to Hufflepuff, Tasha and Loki are Slytherin, Thor is Gryffindor to the max, Bruce is Ravenclaw. I wonder what Clint would be though... probably Hufflepuff, he's got the loyal and hardworking thing down.

don't care about applying real-life logic, it's fiction and I want to be entertained by brave characters with their brave fiction logic :p

The Power of Love/Friendship.

Big Damn Heroes moments.

Couples with a Brooding Boy/Gentle Girl dynamic. (Started with movie!Aragorn/Arwen I think. HNNNNGH THEIR INTERACTION WERE JUST SO SWEET AND HEARTWARMING AND-)

Cooldown Hugs/"I Know You Are In There, Fight!"/anytime we're breaking someone out of brainwashing or a deep funk.

oh, sorry, I didn't realize that was you in that earlier comment

and yeah, that's what I was thinking.

And Porrim being a bicycle doesn't automatically imply being into males and females? Unless it said she slept with EVERYONE, but I don't remember. It could go either way and I'm not that invested in her sexuality lol. (I did think the way Aranea got all flustered when Meenah asked her about it was hilarious.)

Yep. Going over my list of favorite characters from TV, the leads are rarely in the top spot. The only one that immediately comes to mind is Veronica Mars. Otherwise, it's always someone else. Often, the favorites become that way because they're out of the spotlight enough that I want to know what they're doing more than what the main characters are up to.

Of course, that doesn't mean that I hate the leads, just that they're lower on the list. Liking Stiles more than Scott doesn't mean that Scott's a bad character, just that he has to maintain a certain quality that the other characters aren't - in the case of Teen Wolf, we're genuinely concerned if Stiles is hurt because (screw you Tumblr) the show doesn't revolve around him, and Stiles has the option, whether or not he takes it, to back out and head for the hills. That gives him more to work with. At the end of the day, the show will revolve around Scott, and if he says 'screw this, I'm out,' either he'll be pulled back in or the show will end. The other characters don't have that, so there's more concern for them.

Agreed 100% on Bruce and Thor. I actually put both Natasha and Clint in Gryffindor, but I can see Tasha going to Slytherin just as easily. Clint I wasn't as sure of. I could see him in any of them except Slytherin, actually.

Tony really seems Slytherin to me but Ravenclaw is just as good a shot. Actually, I had this whole AU outlined for them where Tony was in Slytherin and made friends with Loki but later ended up befriending Bruce and Loki got all butthurt and started blowing shit up or whatever. I could find the details and tell you if you like. =3

They are only capable of doing that if they're not effeminate men or butch women.

...You...do know that bisexual men can be effeminate and bisexual women can be butch, too, right?

But yeah, the thing is, sure, bisexuals can end up in a happy relationship with someone of the 'opposite' gender* and be fine and dandy and accepted by society. But the thing is, that is at the cost of our identities. Most of us don't want to pretend to be straight, and the assumption that we do is upsetting.

Honestly, as a bisexual woman, I find it pretty goddamn upsetting when people try to tell me that my experiences with homophobia and biphobia are less important than a lesbian's because I could conceivably fall for a man and blend in. No. I am still looked at with disgust by homophobic people who find out my sexuality. Some women still act like they're afraid I'm going to molest them because obviously a girl who likes girls wants to fuck any girl that moves. I still have to worry about things like physical assault and even possibly attempts of corrective rape happening to me if I'm in the wrong place at the wrong time and the wrong person knows I'm attracted to women. It isn't magically easier to be bisexual because I can possibly fall for a man.

Also I can't speak for anyone else, but I think games of Oppression Olympics are fucking dumb and I'd never say it's "harder" to be bisexual than gay. That said, it really fucking hurts to have to be afraid to participate in queer communities because of the [fairly high] chance of me being written off because I "have some straight privilege" or what the fuck ever.

* = I am aware that there are more than two genders. I just couldn't think of a better way to phrase that. So have a disclaimer.

lolno, we just. You know. Actually are persecuted and don't fucking appreciate it. Not "more persecuted than everybody else". Just. You know. We're a minority group, too. And, unlike gay men and lesbians, we also have to worry about being ostracized from queer groups. So lol just fuck off.

Hi there o/

Ooh, that sounds lovely~

[personal profile] deadtree 2012-09-10 02:57 am (UTC)(link)
aww that sounds like a really good AU ;_; Why don't you write it??

The thing with Clint is that in the movie!verse we don't really know much about him, so it's kinda hard to peg him. Natasha's wiliness is what makes me think she'd be best in Slytherin-- she's brave, sure, but her need for self-preservation and the ability to do whatever it takes to take care of number one seems more Slytherin than anything else.

(Anonymous) 2012-09-10 03:02 am (UTC)(link)
I'm pretty sure I've seen a few with that premise, but never cared to memorize where I saw them, sorry!

Try to look at AU-themed communities on fanfiction dot net in the Communities, Harry Potter section and such.

If you like Homestuck, have you seen John Egbert and the Goblet of Sick Fires?

Prologue:

http://archiveofourown.org/works/218661/chapters/328921

Main story:

http://gobletofsickfires.tumblr.com/

It's the Homestuck characters at Hogwarts. I think the events of the Harry Potter books happened a few years before in the backstory, but the Harry Potter characters don't show up. (I think only the Sorting Hat mentions Harry in passing).

Afraid that's all I have.

DA

How are you supposed to look up people you don't know? I don't know about you, but I am not gifted with the ability to look up people whose names I don't even know!

The only person in that pic I recognize is Ben Stiller and I don't even like 85% of the films he does, he's just everywhere, so it's hard for me to not know who he is.

I seriously feel like you're making this a bigger issue than it actually is.

Yeah, whoops. I fail at past and future tense.

I think what bothered me most was the 'all is forgiven' attitude. Like nothing fucking happened.

BITCH JUST SHOT PEOPLE UP. That ain't okay!
