Fandom has never used canon logic with ships. If a character is flat out straight as can be, they're the first to be used in yaoi. People are just more upset this time because messing with a gay character is less PC.

It's more to do with gay characters being much rarer outside of fanon, whilst straight is the default that you see everywhere.

lol you very obviously don't know what erasure is. Not saying what the OP is discussing is or isn't erasure, but what you're discussing?

Erasure, and there's nothing 'PC' about it.

There's also no stopping it. Or reason to fucking care.

OH nooooooo. Somebody thinks this picture that has no bearing on canon whatsoever looks cute!

CRY SOME MOAR BABY!

Shut the fuck up. They're not erasing the gay character- they're shipping a character who CAN'T be gay with a member of the opposite gender. Every time someone pulls this "erasure" bullshit, they're basically saying bisexuals can't exist. And that's fucked up.

Go try that again with a canon that isn't so pansexual.

(Anonymous) 2012-09-09 01:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Why can't she be gay, because trolls are pansexual? Saying Kanaya can't be gay because trolls are a pansexual species is like saying humans can't be gay (or bisexual!) because they're a heterosexual species.
