May/December romances are some of my favorite ships too. I think it just adds an interesting dynamic to characters that already have some fascinating issues (in my fandoms, at least, there are always issues, lol). It's often about revitalizing the older partner and bringing the younger one down to earth a bit. It's just plain enjoyable for those of us that still like old-fashioned romances and happy endings too, often enough. All about what your cup of tea is though, obviously, but basically - I hear ya, OP.
