Re: Original BSG vs. 2004 remake?

Never seen the original but it's never done anything for me based on the snippets I've seen.

They probably do have their ups and downs but the reboot is amazing IMO. It's not the most amazingly planned out series ever (the end is kind of... stupid) but the issues it deals with are incredibly interesting. One of my favourite subplots is when they realize their population is in critical danger of going extinct, and they wonder if they have to ban abortions. The president mentions how she's fought for a woman's right to her own body her entire career, but what do you do in that position? It also deals with loads of things like genocide, ethics, religion, war, and loads and loads of politics. The Reboot is almost not even Sci-Fi, it's more like a political/war drama set in space, with a pretty damn good science team (obviously not perfect, but a lot of their science is pretty good).

Also the characters in the reboot are AWESOME. They're all so fucked up. Roslin, Adama, Starbuck, Caprica Six, and Baltar especially.
