I think snob and hypocrite pretty much sums it up.

it's not that serious though

Then you need to buy a dictionary.

I like the part where you Googled for Wikipedia, instead of going to Wikipedia to do your search.

(Anonymous) 2012-09-10 11:06 pm (UTC)(link)
why open a tab -> go to wikipedia -> enter search -> click link for the page you want

when if using chrome you can search in the address bar with 'wiki' in your query -> click link for the page you want

I don't use Chrome, so it's the same number of steps either way.

(Anonymous) 2012-09-10 11:22 pm (UTC)(link)
because I can just put the term into the search box under the wikipedia search in FF and get it more easily?

lol, I've actually kinda done this before. Not exactly, and not with that example, but I once googled something and then raised my eyebrow when the thing I was looking for was the first result instead of being halfway down the page or on page 2 or something. Kind of a "really? It's the first result?" moment.

What the hell is a "Wikipedia ice age?"
partialsatyr: (Default)

[personal profile] partialsatyr 2012-09-10 11:19 pm (UTC)(link)
A wikipedia ice age, or more precisely, a wikipedia glacial age, is a period of long-term reduction in the temperature of wikipedia's surface and atmosphere, resulting in the presence or expansion of continental ice sheets, polar ice sheets and alpine glaciers.

(Anonymous) 2012-09-11 04:50 am (UTC)(link)
ok see THIS is what I came to these comments for. I wanted "wikipedia ice age" too, it seemed to be the only right interpretation.

(Anonymous) 2012-09-11 01:41 pm (UTC)(link)
This comment wins the wikis.

(Anonymous) 2012-09-11 02:39 pm (UTC)(link)
lol

especially when wikipedia becomes the name of a real planet

(Anonymous) 2012-09-11 04:41 pm (UTC)(link)
If you're partialsatyr, do you consist of 1/4 human parts, 1/4 goat parts, and 1/2 void?

It's the primitive time before wikipedia, when we learned things by banging on rocks.

(Anonymous) 2012-09-10 11:21 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't really think that makes you a hypocrite. Either you left something out of this secret or you don't know what hypocrisy really is.

"Hypocrisy is the state of promoting or administering virtues, moral or religious beliefs, principles, etc., that one does not actually have or is guilty of violating.[1] Hypocrisy often involves the deception of others and thus can be considered a kind of lie."

lol I understand the feeling, OP. However, you would only be a hypocrite if you were hoping the movie's wiki entry would be the first result, which you probably weren't.

Hahahaha. This secret is kind of awesome.

lol I like this secret.

[personal profile] quinnzel 2012-09-11 02:09 am (UTC)(link)
1. That's not really hypocrisy.

2. I feel the same way when I search for Muse and it brings me the page about the Greek Muses even though I'm looking for the band.

Just came to say I love the graphic. Color-inverted!Wiki-logo looks so cool. :)

AHAHAHA, I do that all the time! I mean, I search for shows and movies and forget that their titles are, like, real things. I just texted my best friend the other day asking him how many times I was going to search for "Copper" before remembering that it's, y'know, an element. (He said he firt thought of the dog from The Fox and the Hound. That's why we're best friends.)

Dumbest thing I've heard about in a while...

Why would that relieve you? It probably gets more hits because all the school children are using Wikipedia to copy-paste their ice age paper, not that they're actually reading it.
