I think OP is against using a sock because it would isolate friends made on f!s from friends made on the main account. OP probably wants the friends on his/her main account, but is afraid potential friends will see rpf and not want to talk unless it's on f!s directly.

Either you are going to make friends as yourself (posting from your journal) or you are going to make friends as an edited or alt version of yourself OR you are just going to stay forever anon with no way to connect. If OP wants to make friends on F!S, then OP needs to figure out what is more important.

Does posting on F!S as an alt invalidate the other account's existence or something? Why can't someone have two groups of friends? Is this a friend count contest or something? Gotta collect 'em all on your main account or else it doesn't count?

I'm still not understanding OP's reluctance to alt.

Another point in favor of posting from OP's main journal: Who wants to make friends and then have to hide that you write RPF? It seems like RPF is big hobby for OP. So, just come out with it then and make friends that have no problem with it.

I agree that OP should decide what's important. And I don't think it would be such a big deal using the man account. If I wanted to be friends based off the discussion aspect of f!s, it wouldn't matter if our fandoms were out of sync.

I'd only want two groups of friends if they were geared towards two different purposes (like baking vs art). I guess rpf journal vs non-rpf journal could be different enough, but it might not be. Thus, the alt would feel like a bit of a waste to keep up with.

Thumbs up on that last point you made.
