it's not just feminists who defend wearing makeup. a lot of people enjoy putting on makeup and nice clothes (men included, though more the clothes part and not so much the makeup). not everyone, certainly, but a fair few. it's called narcissism.

moreover, a lot of people consider fashion and makeup an art form. so, you know, maybe you're just really shallow if you can't see the intrinsic value in aesthetics.

personally, i fall into both categories. i have some narcissism going on, but mostly i love clothes and makeup and accessories because it is a form of expression for me. i like being beautiful and i like expressing my vision of aesthetics. yes i can be 'naturally' beautiful, but that's not something i have any control over; makeup and style is.
