Also, the reason I like this fic so much (and have followed it for years) is that it's exactly the kind of slave!fic I was looking for.

I reaaaallly hate slave!fic where the slaves are totally into it and are very submissive; I would prefer the slaves not like it and fight their captivity. Submissiveness is actually a huge turn off for me, so it's hard to find this dynamic and have it played out so well.

Totally agreed. Only reason I still give slave!fic a chance is in the hopes of slaves who resist and try to get the fuck outta there whatever the risk, because I love rebels in tough situations who succeed at bucking the system. Damen was exactly what I always wanted.

Oh my god, same here. That's why bdsm novels aren't a turn-on for me either; actual submission is boring. Powerplay is fun because when the roles are too defined it gets stale.

Have you ever read any other slave!fics (or just original m/m fiction for that matter) that have that kind of dynamic?

Ugh, sadly I can't. There was a livejournal community for slave!fic, both original and fanfics, but every time I went there 99% of it was slaves learning to like being slaves....which obviously is not my jam.

Which is surprising, but maybe I am just looking in the wrong place.
