See, I don't get this. So a precious, innocent life should be preserved at all costs ... unless it causes one specific kind of distress to the woman? Then it's acceptable to kill it and there's no stain on anyone's soul? Questioning that brand of logic doesn't seem especially argumentative, but that's just IMO of course.

As anon above pointed out, conservatives can rationalize capital punishment and war in spite of the "sanctity of life", so it doesn't seem like much of a reach to claim similar exceptional circumstances make rape abortion acceptable.

Incest is just plain old eugenics, though.

I can see justifying capital punishment even from their POV, but not war - I know what you mean, though. (I also realize that the conservative platform has a whole bunch of points that either contradict or smash into each other under a little scrutiny; this is just one of many that confuses me.)
