I really haven't seen any of that myself. If anything, just the typical shipping wars that occur in all fandoms.

I've encountered it once or twice... people always seem to be complaining about it though so I don't know if I just hang out in the wrong places.

Definitely with you on the shipping wars.

Myself, I wasn't born until Sylvester McCoy was playing the Seventh Doctor, but when I was growing up my dad showed me the series. And I haven't seen the first two series of the newer ones, only the third season with Martha Jones and the Sixth Master. It helps to know the older series to understand things in the newer ones, but it's not an actual requirement or makes you any less of a fan if you don't. Four is the best, in my opinion. :P

i have... two favorite pairings, but I usually try to avoid it because a lot of the times I'll just get slammed for them. In any case there really ISN'T an OTP in the series. I mean, the doctor has a granddaughter - meaning he's already been married. (At least that's my viewpoint on it.) Even Ten admitted that he was rubbish at his own wedding. xD

I haven't seen any of the older episodes since I had single digits, which really pains me because I want to rewatch them all but I haven't had a real disposable income for a while (but, between new job + staff discount I hope to remedy that!). I remember Four being great... I think I also liked Seven.

I have a few ships, but no real OTPs -- like you said, I don't see how there can be an OTP. The show has practically no permanence in terms of characters and relationships... that's part of the beauty of it.

On hand the only season I have in DVD format is season sixteen, the one with Romana (fellow Time Lord) as his companion and searching for the parts to the Key to Time. Otherwise I just try catch what I can on YouTube or any other source possible for episodes.

Definitely. I tend to like either the Doctor/Romana (I or II) and Doctor/Martha. But I'm pretty much open to any sort of pairings. It's just a wonderful series in general with all the twists and turns of time and space. ♥

I haven't checked YouTube -- I don't really like watching TV on YouTube because the aspect ratio is often all wonky. I think TV-Links had a few, but last time I checked there were like a million broken links and I got all frustrated and gave up.

I admit... I ship nearly everyone with everyone else. They're all such great characters, I can't help it.

Exactly! I love the episodes which are just like "Right we're going to explore a really cool idea that's made available to us through the awesome format of our show". Any and all ships are secondary to that. ♥

Heck, I've always entertained the idea of Romana coming back to the series in a new regeneration with Ten. Or Martha and Jack. ... yah, you can ship almost anyone, most definitely.

And man can they come up with some pretty awesome plot ideas! I mean, the planet that eats planets! And just traveling back and forth through time - just so much fun!
