Eh, "manga" has become recognized enough as a style of comic that I don't think it matters what country the people making it come from. All manga are comics, but not all comics are manga, and calling something done in the manga style a "comic book" will give people who don't know the particular work a much less accurate mental image of it than if you were to call it a manga. So why do it just because the creator isn't Japanese?

As for the term itself being Japanese, loan words have always been a part of language.

But calling them "comics" would be wrong too, because those are the inferior "animu-style" trying to be cool like "real comics".

Another word, you can never please them no matter what.
