This is such a double sided thing for me. It's stupid on both ends of the, "OMG Draw them 'cause they're awesome!" and the "OMG I DON'T WANT TO SEE NAZIS EVAR!"

The worst part is, people will keep wanking every time they see something Nazi related, eventually even if it's a negative depiction, just because it reminds them of it or say that it "glorifies" it, until people barely remember them. And god, whoever even remembers what the swastika meant in the first place (hint: look up "manji")

And then we do the same damn thing all over again.

BTW, Heinrich Himmler? Way more crazy and evil than Hitler. Hitler just yelled louder and bratted until he got his way.

WORD, especially on the original swastika.

Uh, I remember what the swastika's supposed to mean, and I'm still uncomfortable seeing it juxtaposed with Nazi imagery.

There's a difference between remembering what happened and glorifying it. Discussions of the Third Reich? Fine by me. I didn't even mind Tviokh's famous icon. I just think that the Nazi fangirls (the ones who love the aesthetic and don't seem to give two shits about where it came from) need to visit some concentration camps, or a certain museum in Washington. That'll sober them right the hell up.

That makes more sense.

What's been killing me for years is all the major sites that are forcibly removing all reference to Nazi imagery, even the educational or informative ones. Also there's a whole lot of satirical art out there that people think is supportive and completely miss that it's satirical.

There's a nazi character in a book series I like (Harry Turtledove's Worldwar books) that really illustrates how they hid the concentration camps from people, and he slowly finds out about them. But I'm scared to death to ever do fanart of him cause OMFG Nazi!

Some people are total idiots about it though. One good thing about our particular legal system, despite all its faults, is we have the right to ignore their idiocy as much as they have the right to be idiots.

*facepalm* at the major sites enforcing ignorance. Education is a good thing, especially in this case.

Yes, Virginia, there were good Germans in bad places... I hear you there. I truly do.

There was also Ilse Koch, the Bitch of Butchenwald, though that's a terrible article about her. There's a much more comprehensive one in this book.

Not only is she the one who infamously collected prisoners' tattoos, she would wear gloves made of them. Seriously, Hitler had nothing on some of the people involved with the SS.

Oh yeah. I remember hearing about her. The tattoo thing was creepy as hell.
