Wow, uh, no. Just because the symbol at one time meant something different doesn't negate its MASSIVE exposure as a symbol of prejudice, hatred, and genocide.

If Joe Douchebag draws his retarded furry with a forty-five degree angle swastika you can be DAMN SURE he isn't referencing fucking Jainism.

Wow, um, YES. The symbol didn't mean something different at "one time"--it STILL means something different. See for yourself. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Swastika)

Well, no, he wouldn't be. But if he were drawing a straight swastika? THAT'S when you can't make assumptions so quickly on his intent.

I know the differences.

Here's the thing, dude: Joe Furry ISN'T going to be drawing a straight swastika, and even if he is, it's so little referenced in comparision to the Nazi swastika (and s colourized so differently) in Western culture that most people probably won't even RECOGNIZE it as one.

What you're not getting is that no one ascribes the Eastern swastika to Nazism or hatred because, honestly, no one THINKS about it.

So yeah.
