It really sucks when you feel like you have to justify liking a character, and I often wonder why some people can't fathom the idea of liking a character just the way they are. It's not like you want to run out and find your very own Loki to get married to, and there's no reason to assume so.

I also wonder how true the assumption is that most people like things for superficial reasons. Perhaps it was true once, before people got used to telling others off for being that way. But now, how much of it is just people ranting because of past experiences? How much of society is really that shallow?

But that's a bit off-topic, maybe? These are just things I think about in situations like this.

I admit that I enjoy things for superficial reasons and don't think much about what I'm consuming in some cases. Not everything I enjoy has to turn into academic experience or a debate regarding my justifications for why I enjoy something.

I apologize; I shouldn't have used the word "shallow" at the end there. I'm really only curious about how common it is to enjoy things for superficial reasons.
