(Anonymous) 2012-09-13 06:13 am (UTC)(link)I was heavily involved in the Naruto fandom back in (what I consider) its heyday in 2005--wrote a metric ton of fic, participated in multiple RPs, the works, make (terrible) icons, the works. But even then I didn't love Naruto so much for what it was as for what it COULD be. The world was amazing, the minor characters were amazing...the major characters kind of bored me, honestly, but why bother with Sasuke being an idiot when you could write and read fic about Team Yondaime or the Sannin as youngsters or the First Great Ninja War?
I haven't bothered with canon in years, since Shippuuden dumped dirt on the only characters I loved, but I still occasionally read fic and even more occasionally write it. Minor characters or OCs only, please!
