My complicated feelings for Elementary have nothing to do with the fact that I like Sherlock, and I compare the two. I'm conflicted about Elementary because I expect them to put Sherlock Holmes and Joan Watson together in a romantic/sexual relationship, and when they do it's going to twist the knife on the fact that no other adaptation has put them together because of homophobia. But the VERY SECOND that someone gender-swaps one of the characters, then this very natural no-brainer pairing finally happens. That pisses me off. And if I were making a show where one of the character was male and the other was female, I would NOT put them together in a relationship just because no one's ever done it when they're both men. But I recognize that it's not very reasonable for me to expect the creators of Elementary to care like I do about this. Still, it's going to hurt me.

producers said many times MANY TIMES that they won't put them together

the creators have confirmed that they aren't going to be in a romantic relationship

Yeah, I don't believe that. Producers regularly deny such things to "preserve the surprise". They went RIGHT AT this ship, wasting literally no time. When she met him, he was topless and post-coital, and he talked to her about love at first sight, and then sex.

the way they said it wasnt a "no, of course they'll never get together ;) why would you think that?" wink wink will they/won't they sort of thing. they said that it was completely off the table and that the network wasn't (atm) pressuring them to pursue one.

but lol, ok, whatever it takes for you to sleep at night.

What the hell is the matter with you? You think you're clever? "Whatever it takes for you to sleep at night". I *don't* want this to happen. Keep trying, you fail.
