Lighter colored "this" is Elementary and darker colored "this" is Sherlock, right? Because I tend to agree. I've only seen a handful of cool Sherlock stans, but then again, they like any and all adaptations of Holmes. Most of the Sherlock stans I've seen on Tumblr and LiveJournal have been complaining and comparing. Not to mention the added Tumblr nastiness, ugh.

Yeah, mostly, we just want to be happy about Elementary without engaging in online spars in the tag.

I enjoy both of the series, though at least you can catch up with Elementary far quicker.

There's assholes on both sides of the equation. Most people are either down with both or stick to their own sides with no wank. The vocal minority is always the worst part of a fandom; Sherlock has the staunch buttheads that feel that every other interpretation is shit, Elementary has the staunch buttheads that feel that if you dislike any aspect of it whatsoever then clearly you're a hateful sexist racist misogynist, and both sides attack each other ad nauseam while claiming the other one started it. It's just so much romper room fuckery.

I see you've missed the cadre of bitter Elementary "fans" who are clearly engaged in sad fannish warfare. Their openly stated aim is to stick it to obnoxious Sherlock fans by liking Elementary.

Little do they know, they're just pawns here. The only true winner is Sir Arthur Conan Doyle himself. Sitting in his mansion in Sussex, gleefully rubbing his hands together as more royalty cheques roll on in. :(

This whole Moffat's Sherlock vs. CBS' Elementary kind of makes me feel sorry for all of the other adaptations. Like they are going, "Hello, we exist too, you know." Or, on the other hand, maybe they are just quietly backing away from this mess while whistling.

Because we've had Sherlock as a terrier (Wishbone), a cucumber (Veggie Tails) and Watson as a tomato (Veggie tails) and a robot (Sherlock Holmes in the 22nd Century) and yet no one has complained about those adaptations.

In one adaptation we even had Sherlock fighting along side THE GODDAMN BATMAN.

Why is CBS' so different?

idk, some elementary fans can be crazy too. They seem to be more of the crazy social justice type though. Or finding any excuse to praise elementary and hate on sherlock. There's just a lot of bitterness on both sides, it doesn't make for a good situation fandom wise. Why can't everyone just get along??? ='[

I just don't get why it's such a big deal which is better or why one has to argue about it...some people are going to like Sherlock better, some Elementary, and some people don't give a shit about either and love one or more of the other million Sherlock Holmes adaptions. I don't get why people can't just leave well enough alone.

95% of the assholery is coming from the Sherlock stan's side. So. Whatever. Like, it is just REALLY annoying when we just want to have a place to talk about our show and we have to wade through a lot of "OMG DID YOU KNOW THAT AMERICA IS RIPPING OFF SHERLOCK? AMERICA SUX!" or "AMERICA HATES THE GAYS! THAT'S WHY JOHN IS A WOMAN! AND IT IS JUST WRONG!" or "I deserve cookies and oral sex because I deigned to watch Elementary and it was not the steaming pile of horse shit that I had assumed it would be. Where is my medal of honor?".

I like Elementary fandom for the most part, and I totally get their concerns w/r/t how people have been responding to the show in terms of being racist and/or sexist douchebags about it, but I just think their "screwing up Benedict Cumberbatch's name" thing is really immature. And I don't have a horse in this race, because I'm really not a fan of his, but come on. It's not funny, it's not exactly elevating the debate, and it's just...it really is just so 4th grade.

The thing is, if you actually go to the Elementary or Sherlock tag, there are more people talking about the so-called fandom war than actually engaging in it. And other than Tumblr or ONTD, no one really cares. There are a lot of Sherlock fans so statistics say there are a fair number of Sherlock fans who are idiots. But honestly, most Sherlock fans are currently preoccupied with otters and, apparently, red pants.

I understand it's annoying when people complain about a show you (I using the general "you", not addressing the OP) like (although, I maintain it's a little silly get so attached to a show that hasn't even aired yet). But people make stupid complaints about every show. Especially cross-country adaptations. It's not hating, it's called Typical Internet Fandom Behavior. It's not something to be taken personally.

IA, and an awful side-effect is that all the major Elementary blogs I've found on tumblr are unbearable because they won't shut up about the awful Sherlock fans and in defense of Lucy Lui's Watson are turning her into a standard stick-in-the-mud strong female character who rolls her eyes at the silly boys and their shenanigans(which isn't new and is boring as hell).

I hope this settles down before the show starts. :\

I love Sherlock. I've not seen Elementary, but it doesn't look that great, and a female Watson is a lot less interesting to me than a female Holmes would have been.

That said, the Sherlock fandom has been talking about how Elementary doesn't deserve to exist since before anyone could possibly have seen enough of it to judge, and that's super lame. :(

I'm not all that interested in Elementary (I don't really like the idea of UST, which I think will be there, but I can get that other people do), I love Sherlock (and I avoid fandom because I like my Sherlock asexual), but I don't think there's anything wrong with anyone watching what they want to watch. I never will understand fandom wars of any sort.

Oh, god. Excuse me whilst I puke. Poor, poor Elementary fans! They're victims of bullying from teh ebil Sherlock stans~~~ Jesus christ, are we all four years old? I have personally experienced HATE (and personal attacks, yay) from Elementary fans because I dared to say I like Sherlock. I have witnessed them being assholes for no other reason than they hate Sherlock, and they only watch Elementary to somehow stick it to BBC/Moffat/Cumberbatch (yep, for real).

All I'm saying is, don't go thinking these Elementary fans are just cowering in the corner. It has more than its fair share of assholes.

honestly the ONLY people I've seen stanning for Elementary were doing it to spite the Sherlock fandom (and admitted as much), and now all they can talk about it how much better the actors are because they aren't douchebags/ugly/whatever. So I'd say the fandoms are about equal in terms of sheer stupidity and asshattery.
