Better then the Ang Lee version though.

Never seen it. :)

(For good reason. I've never heard anything good about any Hulk movies.)
intrigueing: (hulk saves iron man)

I never bothered to watch that one, but I've heard from different sources that was super-pretentious and boringly cerebral, and that there was too much smashing, not enough plot. Which one is it? Or is it somehow both?

[personal profile] insanenoodlyguy 2012-09-13 11:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Honestly I'd say the first one didn't have enough smashing. At least of the satisfying variety. And yes. Super goddamn pretentious, with some creative choices for narration that just out and out failed (comic panel transitions worked decently for the directors cut of the The Warriors. It failed here)

I actually liked the second movie though. It's not like the comics didn't specify that Hulk came out during other physical stressors on Bruce (this is why you can't simply shoot him when he's human, any stressor like that pumps his body's adrenaline and dang, he's healing by the time he reached you to squeeze the brains out of your head)

MY FAVOURITE IS THE COMIC WHERE IRON MAN STOPS THE HULK

(Anonymous) 2012-09-13 11:55 pm (UTC)(link)
AND THEN TONY DECIDES TO FIX BRUCE BY GIVING HIM AN AMAZING PACEMAKER, SO HIS HEART WON'T RACE AND HE WON'T TRANSFORM. BUT HULK RADIATION OR SOMETHING MAKES HIS PACEMAKER GO SUPER FAST SO HE'S ALL SUPER HULK ALL THE TIME.

AND THAT IS WHY YOU DON'T ASK TONY STARK IF YOU CAN CRASH AT HIS PLACE FOR THE NIGHT.

Wut? The Iron Man/Hulk comic is a real comic actually published by Marvel. 1970s, I think.

Oh, the triggers-in-addition-to-anger, like danger or injury, is definitely legit, but I was disappointed that the movie basically reduced the anger trigger to just another way to get his heart rate up. But anyway, I'm sure he wasn't crazy palpitating in the scene in the Avengers where he lets the Hulk out voluntarily, so I assume that heart rate is just one of the Hulk's triggers, instead of the trigger.

Okay, fair enough.

It's the hulk dogs, I think, that pushed that movie over the edge.

Please tell my you're joking.

Hulk... dogs?

Only part of the movie worth looking at. But not for the reasons the director intended.

Also, hulk is way too big.

My gosh. Like I know I could nitpick about "why can't the dogs break into the car if they have Hulk strength" or "violence against animals" but seriously?

Why aren't those dogs green? That's my biggest question.
insanenoodlyguy: (Default)

[personal profile] insanenoodlyguy 2012-09-14 12:25 am (UTC)(link)
good question. This is loosely based on an actual issue of the Hulk comic.

They were green in that, and none of them were poodles.

...

Thinking about this movie is making me more stupid by the minute and I haven't even watched it.

Why change something from the comics if it worked?

I need to go headdesk now.

[personal profile] insanenoodlyguy 2012-09-14 12:35 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah. I legit liked the second movie, and i know a lot here didn't. I say if nothing else, if you want to follow the whole marvel storyline leading up to avengers, you gotta watch all of em. But no matter what else you think of it, it didn't try to sell us a goddamn Hulk Poodle.

I watched all the movies that lead up to the Avengers but I haven't seen their predecessors. So I haven't seen the movie you linked to but I saw The Incredible Hulk. I was very thorough before I saw the Avengers. I got everything from the library.

Or are you saying I need to see the oldies too?

It's a SPECTACULAR idea

[personal profile] insanenoodlyguy 2012-09-14 12:41 am (UTC)(link)
It really wasn't.

This movie failed for reasons. This was one of them.

hulk dogs what.

For a minute I thought this was some marketing stunt I'd missed.
Like, they sold giant green Hulk-penis shaped hot dogs or something.
