Wow, everyone's really going 'troll' on this, huh? Guess I should explain?

First, I'm not a troll. And second, yes I am fairly new to fandom. The reason it feels weird for me to be comfortable in very unfeminine clothes is because I was never really told that it was okay to be unfeminine. Also, I did the whole attending-girls-only-Christian-school thing since I was five and am now eighteen. They kind of told me that premarital sex is evil and that girls should always wear dresses but that feminism is totally cool as long as you're only straight. The end result was one incredibly confused student. I am allowed to hang out with boys, but it is always expected that one day I marry a man and settle down with kids and be a stay at home mum.

And that's that. That's why it's a secret. Sorry if I confused anybody.

So no, not a troll. I just have not been told it's okay to act masculine.

CT: D --> Obviously your new role model would take e%ception to such inane f001ishness

CT: D --> As you attempting to break away from that which is your assigned place

CT: D --> But you may as well continue on this path you have already begun to trot, as you likely canter do anything else

CT: D --> Such

CT: D --> DECADENCE

CT: D --> Oh my god why are the towels always gone

I don't remember Equius using horse puns

Hopefully Darkleer will take the reins with that. Partially because then it could be foalishness.

Hilariously, your explanation is exactly what I assumed. Of course, I grew up in a heavily gendered environment, too.

Well let me tell you then in case you haven't got it from all the replies - it is totally 100% okay for you to wear anything that makes you comfortable. There is not "should" when it comes to preference of clothing or styles or how you express being a woman and your personal definition of feminine. And you don't even have to marry a man and settle down if you don't want to.

Food for thought - "masculine" and "feminine" are social constructs and change with time.

Speaking from personal experience here, it's okay to choose what you like, as long as you're confortable with it.

You can feel comfy in baggy clothes maybe because it's physically more comfortable, it allows you to carry stuff around without a bag, it allows you to spontaneously climb and explore and run and sit on the dirt without restrictions or fucking up your outfit, you can decide to wear the same thing every day and to hell with having to carefully choose, it doesn't hug your body and make you feel your body should be shaped differently, you can deflect the attentions of lots of men, your outfit can attract certain desirable men, women, or others, you can project a 'don't fuck with me', or 'I don't give a shit' or something else you want it to, or, or, or [???]...., and/or simply you feel better in those clothes because it matches who YOU feel you are inside.

You may like to be femme sometimes and glam it up when you can be bothered/excited, but it is TOTALLY OKAY if you feel better dressing androgynous or butch all the time. Biology isn't destiny. Haters to the left.

Oh man oh man I hope you enjoy your stay in fandom, and that it also deprograms you into awesomeness ♥

fandom newbies are sometimes my favourite kind of newbies. you're like babies in need of corruption and also maybe some analytical thinking if you're not already doing that.

Wear what you want.

Be who you are.

Fuck anyone who tries to tell you not to.

The end.
