I wonder how much of it is the fan not hearing the words, and how much it is their native accent getting in the way. I remember my grandfather used to stick "r" sounds on the end of all kinds of words because of his New England accent. I suppose I could say that he should have gotten with it and respected the fact that "idea" doesn't have an "r" sound on the end -- but, that was his accent.
