To be fair, that's a difference in the flexibility of the languages: Japanese is syllabic and has fewer consonants (and WAY fewer vowels) than English, and loan words often have to be changed in order to be transcribed in any Japanese alphabet. English has enough sounds that speakers should be able to at least say "manga" without screwing it up too much.
