From a purely scientific point of view, would people actually turn red when they're dumped in lava or would they disintegrate instantly?

Well, actually, if you burned your skin with lava it would probably turn black and fall off. Human skin isn't really very melty. It shrivels and burns into a gas and a carbon waste product. I wouldn't say that humans would disintegrate completely (look at the fabulous remains of pompeii!) but definitely the soft outer layer would shrivel up and/or sublimate. You would be left with some of the tougher bits of human beings I believe if you dipped one in lava, probably bones, maybe some thick muscle.

Either way storing lava in an internment camp must be a bitch. I'm sure things strong enough to withstand the heat of lava are hard to come by.

Yeah, I thought it was something like that. The poor blokes in the video turned red then keeled over; I thought that was highly improbable. It is probably best to think of minecraft lava as a game element rather than an physical object with real-live properties.

Yes, uh, that wouldn't happen in life xD But then, the people didn't look very realistic in the first place, so I wasn't holding out for it to show realism tbh.

Also, the situation in Pompeii is different. The volcanic ash suffocated the people as much as it buried them alive in rock/ash coffins. I imagine once the dust fell, it didn't move. On the other hand lava flows so it should be able to exort enough lateral force to disturb the shape of the blackened carbon chars of human remains. Maybe. Anyone know the tensile strength of impure carbon?

According to this source lava is an imperfect killer anyway. You can fall in it and be just fine because of its slow movement. Silly inefficient Nazis.

Anyway, it wouldn't be pure or even impure sole carbon on human remains. Cells are much more complex than that. Also, again lava moves very little and settles in one spot, so I don't think moving the human remains would be a problem.

I'm wondering about lava's flow rate because the lava in the video pours right out of rock and is dumped straight onto the blokes. Anyway, it's getting late for me too. We've already established minecraft lava =/= real life lava so I'm happy. Good night!
