People like shitty fic so long as their OTP is kissysmoochy in it, even if that behavior is OOC. End of story.

I solve this by writing the type of fic I'd want to read. Only a handful of people will actually comment or review, but at the end of the day, these are the people who tend to appreciate my type of writing. They may also like the drivel, but meh. Sometimes even I want uncomplicated shit to read (emphasis on 'shit').

This is a good reminder and you should feel good.

I'm assuming you've not been to WWoHP, because it is amazing.

Oh, BSB, how they made my teen years happier.

I'm not a fan anymore, but I have 'as long as you love me' on my ipod. Also, I would probably go see them if they came to my city. For old times' sake, I guess.

(Anonymous) 2012-09-15 10:17 pm (UTC)(link)
lol, as if 95 percent of YA novels weren't a tired rehash of the exact same old romance tropes and the same old gush and glurge, only set in a dystopia or with vampires

Plus, the OP didn't say that she was annoyed because her friends still read YA, she said she was annoyed because they don't read anything else--but that's a distinction I should have guessed would be lost on someone who probably thinks Cassie Clare is a challenging read.

I kind of do. In my headcanon someone that whinily obsessive would not last long in the 'Con ranks.

+1!!

(Anonymous) 2012-09-15 10:17 pm (UTC)(link)
I suggest you try to find a few new friends with similar reading interests. You'll have an outlet and probably care less about what your friends read.

God, me too. I'm utterly baffled that he has fans with that hair. It's worse than Snape's.

And the alternative is some really dorky helmet? Great.

Who is that?

(Anonymous) 2012-09-15 10:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Here, let me correct that for you:

US fans in New York and Los Angeles got every fucking thing going, the UK and the rest of the world practically fuck all - and it'll be the same with The Hobbit.

There are a lot of special events for various fandoms in LA and NY. The rest of the US gets kind of screwed when it comes to UK-based fandoms, too.

ayrt

And even if it wasn't shopped, it still makes no sense because Clint and Selvig's eyes were a shimmery opaque silver-blue that's VERY obvious.

If I remember correctly, some fans have already "explained" that Loki's eyes look different because he is magically stronger than Clint and Selving/he's an alien, so the effect isn't as obvious on him, or alternatively, he isn't "fully" mind controlled, his evilness is only the spear's unwanted side-effect.

Actually, I'd be very surprised if you couldn't find the fandom for this, OP. :¬) Good luck in searching for it - and I do hope you don't prove me wrong. :¬}

Sgt. Siler from Stargate (the original series) he is known for walking around in background scenes with an oversized wrench.

Have you ever read any Tamora Pierce? There's not much horror, but (at least, IMO), there are interesting protagonists, and there are some femmeslashy undertones. (She writes YA novels, so her older book don't have much overt slash), but her later works that build on her universes (and are written later) have femmeslash.

If you're interested, I can send you a link. :)

I used calibre to format them for my nook, but it should be the same, I think?

No, she's a famous average-looking white woman. That's a difference. If she were an off the street nobody, the modeling world would not give a second look to her. But the fashion world knows that she has fans, gobs of them, and they will buy anything she is literally selling. So, put her in the modeling world and let the money pour in. It's actually pretty smart.

I'm sorry our country is better then yours.

Let me check my privilege and be sensitive.

Don't sorry. I'm sure whatever unamerican shithole you live in will matter one day when America decides to pay attention to it.

I was wondering if you were as baffled by the finale as I was, Diva anon! I yelled "Bullshit!" at the screen several times during that finale. I actually didn't think it was all that bad (except the whole 'Jane' thing) until the end when it turned just wtf worthy, but I'm too invested in Jane/Grayson happening to give up yet. I'm hoping they'll have some 'not as terrible' way to resolve the shit they pulled in the finale...but that's probably me being overtly optimistic.

Other shows though: SPN. It wasn't any one moment though...there were a decent number of them, but I finally just got frustrated and 'meh' enough about it to stop going to the trouble of watching it. I'll eventually watch the rest...probably when the series is over, but I don't have any desire to catch up right now.

I'm pretty sure most of tumblr fandom agrees with you.

I like it. the greasiness is a leeeeeetle offputting, but whatever, it's not like i'm actually touching it.

The fuck are you talking about?

You do it for yourself. To like shit you want to like.

That's what I thought, too! It was so much more fun to have different races, ages, genders etc in that ep that I wish they'd go more down that route & have more companions.

The episode of Grey's Anatomy with the ferry crash that had Meredith nearly dying and seeing visions of Denny and some other dead people. It had been sucky before that, but that was pretty much the moment I gave up.

It actually got kind of good after that mass hospital shooting though. Not great or anything, but I started being entertained by it again. Plus, I got really invested in the Callie/Arizona relationship.

(Anonymous) 2012-09-15 10:23 pm (UTC)(link)
No, I love the feathered look. Every time I see it, I crack up going "How long did he spend feathering his hair this morning?" It's just so ridiculous. I love it.

Lololo

I was about to comment that "hey I can't judge I don't read any YA though" then I realized that I read the 40K novels and if I'm being truly honest with myself, they're worse.
