We had something of the opposite chicken/bird of prey story happen with our chickens.

Our chicken yard was fairly big and completely covered at the time, and the girls were pretty good about never going far so we'd always leave the door to the coop open so they could come and go as they pleased.

Then, one day, a massive flurry of clucking and chickens freaking out had us darting outside worried that they were being attacked by something. And they were. Sort of.

Only, the hawk who had been looking for a chicken dinner instead swooped straight in through the open coop door and got itself so stuck in the yard that one of my younger brothers had to suit up with safety gear and creep in to take the poor confused bird out.

So yeah, up close and personal encounter with a bird of prey and none of our girls were worse for wear.

((...Until the neighbor's dogs and the Great Chicken Massacre of '02, but that's another story.))

I'm sorry, I'm probably coming across as snarkier than I intend (had a surgery go wrong and am dealing with the complications), but I am SO SICK of a certain faction of women being offended over every last little damn thing. I'm female myself, and I adore this song, but if I admitted it publically, SJWs would crucify me and say I'm nothing but traitorous cis scum, and I'm sick of putting down eggshells for them and their precious feewings. I'm also tired of the Tumblr SJW gang.

Women are strong. We do NOT need to be wrapped in cotton wool, nor do we need to KILL ALL DA MENZ like the SJWs claim.

Not to mention Loki was limping at the beginning and had to be helped along.

Honey, the rest of the world doesn't care about your internal regional distinctions.

Anon, I'm so sorry for your loss.

Let's see what I can send you?

My favorite Weird Al Yankovich video, White and Nerdy (http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=1384277706451157121).

I Haz a Sweet Potato (http://littera-abactor.livejournal.com/7748.html) - a story about a dog. And a Sweet Potato.

Grow (http://www.eyezmaze.com/grow/v3/index.html) is a very strange little game, where you try to get all the items to 'grow' to their maximum level. It's very easy...and very addictive.

Not!Above Anon but...

The books that have the femmeslash over/undertones are her Emelan 'verse rather than the more popular Tortall 'verse - The Circle of Magic series, the Circle Opens series, Will of the Empress, and Melting Stones.

I'm so sorry for your loss.

Zooborns can usually get a smile out of me even when I'm feeling at my worst.

I used to have a ferret named Q (after the Star Trek character, because let's face it, what animal could be more perfect for him?), and one of his favorite things to do when he was let out of his cage was poing straight to the bathroom, pull down the bag of maxi pads off the shelf, steal them one by one, and hide them under the couch. Once he was satisfied, he'd then sleep on top of his mound of pilfered pads like a little furry dragon. I wish I'd had a video-camera back then so I could've taped him in action, but here's a photo of him mid-heist: Ferret Thief. Also, once he pulled a bag of 24 toilet paper rolls over to the couch and tried to hide them under it. Of course it wouldn't fit, but he sure gave it the old college try. I miss that little dude.

Was it slash? Or the fandom's popular pairing/characters? I've seen plenty of crappy writers who are popular just for pumping out fic full of slash.

did you look at Norsekink? They're more focused over there so maybe..? Norsekink is like 900% Loki though so you'd probably need a Loki angle on it xD

I never really noticed how little Thor there is without Loki because Thorki is my OTP.

Idk man, I might fill this just so that it has a fill! It needs one!

Re: The moment you gave up a tv show

The Office: I believe the show should have ended with Jim and Pam's wedding, but I still stuck around. Generally saying, I'm glad Michael Scott got his happy ending, but it seemed unnecessary. I personally like Michael/Holly so I was happy, but everything that followed, yeah, you were wise to stop following the show. I'm glad this is going to be the last season, and I'll stay around, but I'm not keeping my hopes up that this will be as good as it used to be because yeah, it really sucked last season.

When Adam died on Heroes. I didn't tune back in and, from what I've heard, it went even more downhill.

Re: Favorite and Least Favorite Works of Prose You Had to Read in High School

[personal profile] ginainthekingsroad 2012-09-16 12:00 am (UTC)(link)
I liked most of what we had to read. I got pretty sick of John Steinbeck as we read something of his every year from 7th to 12th grade (except 11th grade which was Brit Lit), although the last one we did was East of Eden and I liked that one best of his work.

Favorites:
Rosencrantz & Guildenstern (but I was already a theatre obsessive and Stoppard fan who had read RAGAD before I was actually in AP Lit where the play was assigned)
As I Lay Dying
Lord of the Flies
Brave New Word
Heart of Darkness (everyone hated it except like 3 of us. I think it's fascinating.)
Ceremony (Underrated piece of magical realism by a Native American author, Leslie Marmon Silko.)

Least Favorites:
The Grapes of Wrath (seriously, Steinbeck overkill)
White Teeth
White Noise (I got this book from a friend in the grade above me. She had actually torn the book in half in rage. Now I'm against violence to books, but this one aaaaalmost deserved it.)

Lol, you sound like an asshat. I am not bringing out my "Everyone likes different things" pic because shit if I used it this often it would lose its potency.

As someone who is frustrated by the YA/adult novels divide let me tell you this: a lot of novels that are too "weird" for adults get put into YA. Because apparently spaceships are okay and magic is okay. But you put magic on spaceships and you're crazy.

Also, I hate having to deal with the condescension of people like you in the English department. I plan to write something dark and "meaningful" that only adults should read? Yes. That is really the only thing you should be writing. Don't you know that? I want to write not-always-grimdark adult stuff? Well, okay if that's what you're into. You want to write YA? You must not be very bright or fully emotionally developed. You want to write children's books? Are you also a housewife?

Gosh, what the fuck. People. PLEASE. Just, read what you want to. Watch what you want to. Do what you want to. As long as you're not hurting anyone no one else should care.

Why do you care?

No.

Why do you care?

I am not forcing you to read what I read. No one is forcing you to read that shit. Why are you wasting your time judging people who are just enjoying themselves? Why are you wasting your time on hate?

Oh.

Oh I know why.

Because it makes you feel superior to them based on arbitrary stuff that you made up. Well, okay. Good show. I hope you don't get cold up there on your pedestal. I hear it gets windy.

But in all honesty, do I think you really believe this? No. I think you're a troll who knew a really good amount of wankbait. You are good. I tip my hat off to you. 10/10. Would do this again.

Except for internet, and my kitties who are too stressed for it at the moment I have officially moved out of the Death Trap!

Goodby Bathroom Slugs! You’ll be the only thing about this place I miss!

Good Riddance warping floors, leaky roof, collapsing walls, dust, mold, floor mushrooms, broken toilets, always clogging drains, non existent insulation, shoddy wiring, and heat/air conditioning that hasn’t worked for two years.
