This little beauty is Gasteracantha arcuata, or the spiny orb weaver, curved shiny spider or even the long horn spider- any of those names'll work! It's found around Southeast Asia, especially Malaysia and Singapore, and isn't actually that big, though the two long prongs on its back are certainly very attention drawing. Though they may look large in the picture, they're only about a centimeter or so long in length. If you're wondering why spiny spiders go out of their way to look so colourful, well, researchers suspect that it's done so in orer to lure their lunch of bugs and insects to them.
