-happy sigh- I love the US television system. Every year, no random hiatuses...even if our TV is worse, it's at least consistent.

Why on earth would you think American television is worse? Cinema and television are one of the things Americans do better than anyone else.

+1

I don't feel that strongly about cinema, but I really think that currently, America does have the best TV. Certainly when the comparison is to British TV (much of which I really like). Though a lot of the best American TV is cable, which doesn't normally have 20+ episodes. But even the standard 13 or so is more than a lot of British series, and it is generally on at a consistent time every year(unless it's a show on AMC, because they still haven't figured out contract negotiations. Whoops).

Quantity =/= quality, anon.

(Anonymous) 2012-09-16 04:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, but you know what does equal quality? Breaking Bad, Mad Men, GoT, Louie, Archer, Parks and Rec, Community, Boardwalk Empire, The Good Wife, Sons of Anarchy, Justified, Happy Endings, etc. Etc. And that's just current shows that I can think of off the top of my head.

Which is not to say other countries don't also have great TV, But America has some of the best. Some of the worst, too, for sure. But definitely some of the best.

Hmph. House would go on winter hiatuses. I mean, it did it consistently, I guess, but it was still annoying (when House was still good, anyway).
