I think that's true of many fandoms where the females outnumber the males, since sooner or later you get someone going "But what about the poor menz?" at which point my eyes always start rolling. Because men are so underrepresented in fiction.

Vocaloid isn't a work of fiction, though, it's a synthesized singing program.

Yea, but at first glance a lot of other fandoms don't realize that. The fact that our "canon" is essentially a virtual instrument mimicking a human voice isn't exactly typical or expected.

But...vocaloids are music programs. And males are underepresented in vocaloid. Because japanese vocaloids, which are the most popular ones, are primarily marketed to spergy male otakus desperate for anime waifus.

To be fair, certain types of female voices are underrepresented as well, but overall you've got way more variety to choose from if you want your composition to have a female "singer" than if you want it to have a male one.
