Dinner time as an adult is hard work

(Anonymous) 2012-09-17 11:42 pm (UTC)(link)
I feel like I should be having more than chips and salsa for dinner. But then there's the lazy factor.

What did you have for dinner tonight FS? Or what are you planning for dinner?

Chicken wings and leftover crisps. Yes, I'm a terrible adult.

I had an avocado with some cardamom cheese for dinner.

I can't even blame it on being lazy because I still made dinner for everyone else. Panko chicken & rice for my little sister. Steak, salad, garlic mashed potatoes, and bacon brussel sprouts for my mother and little brother. Brownies for dessert.

I'm going to have an iced green tea icee for my dessert.

Class starts at 3pm and I go straight from there to work until midnight. Normally I'd have some sort of rice medley made up, but tonight I'm eating a carrot, some cherry tomatoes, and salted peanuts.

i dumped half a bag of mixed salad greens onto a plate then topped it with dried cranberries and raspberry vinagrette. salad is my lazy dinner food.

peanut butter and jelly sandwiches are also a lazy dinner food.

I haven't decided yet. It's getting kind of late so I may just skip "dinner" and go straight to "late night snack". Or I don't know, might make a fruit smoothie to cap off the night.

I don't cook, or we'd have to have the fire department on speed dial. But my fiancé is working toward training to be a chef, so we may be eating cheap food, but at least it's good.

Apparently tonight is barbequed lemon and herb chicken.

/thank god I'm not the one cooking

Crock pot lentil soup. I love my crock pot. Makes cooking so much easier. Just throw the ingredients in and it is done in 8 hours.

A ready-made flatbread sandwich and Cheez-It's. (lmao, so healthy.)

I like cooking, but at night...not so much.

Bratwurst with peppers and onions on a bun. Mmm.

And I have salmon in the fridge for tomorrow! This is a good eating week, I sometimes vary from interesting/newer dishes one week to sandwiches and ramen the next. I do add meat and vegetables to my ramen, but still. It's ramen.

As soon as I get out of class, I'm flying home to eat the cream & chicken & corn & potato & carrot & other-veggies-i-will-add-later plus thyme stew that's in the slow cooker. Is it still dinner if I'm having it at 10pm?

slow cookers are amazing for lazy people :d

My husband cooks dinner in my house. Tonight I had chicken with homemade pineapple and pepper salsa with green beans and mushroom quinoa

Boneless pork chops, black beans and white rice. Not labor intensive.

Made mashed potatoes (just cover potatoes with cold water and bring to a boil for 40 min is easy enough, then add butter, milk, and spices!) to go with my sauteed beef and green beans (nothing like cooking several pounds of meat in one go and freezing in portion sizes).

Opened a bagged salad, took a meal-sized portion and stored the rest in a tupperware, crumbled up some salmon burger from the weekend and added some noodles from this weird cabbage dish my grandmother insisted on giving, and put it all together. And then had frozen grapes for dessert.

So... totally lazy here too, but in a satisfying way.

I pretty much don't ever eat anything that takes more than 10-15 minutes to make more than once or twice a week- everything else is pretty much low-effort/low-attention-requiring stuff, leftovers, or stuff that I can mix leftovers into.

Leftover chicken and vegetable soup and noodle kugel. Yesterday was Rosh Hoshanah, so more elaborate than we normally do. Making your own chicken stock is so time-consuming, but mmm so good. And there's honey cake for dessert. Think I'll have some with a cup of coconut chai later this evening.

I had a frozen dinner, because I get home on weekdays at about 9:30 and I usually eat leftovers from my parents' meal, but they had leftovers in general.

I need to learn how to cook, though. I'm going to have to move out of the parents' house soon enough, and I'm kind of useless doing anything other than breakfast and desserts in a mug.

I had sausage and potato. Basically I took a smoked sausage, a potato, and half an onion and sliced them into thin slices then sauteed them on the stove for about 10 minutes with a bit of salt and butter.

Crackers and cheese is my 'go to' for when i don't want to cook. Which is *often*. Or cereal. Or eggs.
I hate cooking.
