recs for me?

I'm going to chime in and take advantage of this topic to look for recs. I like books about ladies going on adventures. Among my favorites to re-read: Tamora Peirce's Tortall books, Mercedes Lackey Valdemar books, and Kristen Britain's Green Rider series.

Basically, ladies being awesome and having adventures with magic and travel and making friends. Any specific recs for me?

I don't know not as many as I'd like and if anyone else has recs I am definitely going to get on those.

Uh but definitely read Lois McMaster Bujold's book Paladin of Souls (the rest of her fantasy is really good too, just not directly relevant to your interests, and her science fiction is mostly okay). Also I think Pamela Dean and CJ Cherryh are probably relevant (but I've not read the former, and have only read the science fiction of the latter - they've been on my to-read list for years, I swear). Sorry I can't think of more

Also Patricia McKillip is the correct spelling of the author's name (and you should probably read her work btw it's really good).

Well I've got the whole list you rec'd up there, which some are new to me, so it's all good! I was just curious if you maybe had some more specific recs. I've read some CJ Cherryh and Pamela Dean, but Patricia McKillip and Lois McMaster Bujold are new to me!

I'd like to recommend the Firekeeper Saga by Jane Lindskold. The main character is a kick-ass girl and there are multiple other well-developed female characters throughout the series. It might be a little heavy on the politics and a bit light on the magic, but there are giant intelligent animals and lots of traveling and making friends and allies!

Holly Lisle. I'd recommend her Secret Texts Quartet, but almost anything she's written is awesome.
