I admit I haven't read them in years but I read the Incarnations of Immortality series when I was in high school and really liked them. I'm guessing I should never re-read them if I want to keep my fond memories?

YES. NEVER REREAD THEM. That was the only series of his I read all the way through (I was in middle school), and I bought all of them because I thought they were so great. When I was cleaning out my bookshelves a few years ago, I started to reread and was overwhelmed by a sudden desire to take a shower. Not good. :(

Good to know!

There are so many books that I read when I first started really reading (I was a late bloomer for reading, started in high school) that I have such happy memories of, but when I go back and re-read I'm like what is this shit? How could I not see all this horrible creepy bad writing etc going on?

So sadly true. And there are definitely things I have intentionally not reread because I'm scared of what I'll think of them now. Especially after how bad my Piers Anthony experience was.

This is why I haven't gone back to re-read Piers Anthony. I loved them as a teen; Incarnations made me think a lot about religion and my spirituality, and the Mode books helped me a lot when I was suicidal. However, I remember that Anthony has some major issues with women and rape, and I'm pretty sure that would be triggering to me at this point.
