idgaf about Teen Wolf but OMG YES regarding the nonsense ship that is Shawn/Lassie. I am baffled by the lack of quality Shawn/Gus in Psych fandom. I'd like to think that it's because it's "too obvious" and noooot because people are intimidated or whatever about writing interracial slash.

My sympathies. I know how much it can suck to have a pairing ignored.

I personally was creeped out by the fact they grew up together and the fact that Gus & Shawn have a similiar relationship to me and my little brother.

I'm up there crying about the lack of Gus/Juliet. Interracial het? That ship won't sail.

If you're talking about the "i caught my cousins" thread no one ever mentioned race.

In any event I am conceptually interested in dysfunctional incest in fiction.

I'm not really in Psych fandom for angst. Plus being interested in fictional incest =/= being okay with a fictional incest pairing that reminds you of your real life siblings.

Haha, well, I guess I can get behind the ship because I didn't have a BFF that I stuck with all through childhood and don't have a super tight relationship with my siblings, either. I don't have anything to compare it to so nothing really squicks me out about it.

That said, I'm not really looking for fluffy hearts and rainbows coupledom from them either. I just want stupid messy competitive fucking.

Oh man, I would be all over Gus/Juliet if someone were to write it.

YMMV obviously, but I always thought that Gus could do so much better than Shawn. When I think about them as a possible couple, I see Shawn taking undue advantage of Gus and letting him get away with it.

I definitely shipped them harder in the earlier seasons, but I absolutely love Shawn/Lassie. Maybe it is because I adore the haters become lovers trope, but ever since "Lassie Did a Bad Bad Thing" In season 2, I can't help but ship them. Lassie was wearing Shawn's shirt and let him blindbold him with his tie. For me, it's hardly a nonsense ship. Although I appreciate you saying that my shipping preferences are not racially motivated. Thank you for that.

Oh, YMMV for sure! I didn't mean to say that the Shawn/Lassie ship was completely unfounded, and I take back the way I worded that! I don't begrudge anyone's ships, we're all here in the same sandbox, etc.

I just mean, it doesn't make any sense to me, and I've never really seen anything between them other than Shawn irritating the shit out of Lassie for fun and Lassie hating being shown up all the time. But I've never been a fan of the trope (I never "got" Harry/Draco, either, for instance) so I guess it's just frustrating to me that it's the predominant ship in the fandom when I don't understand the appeal. At all.

Appeal is a tricky thing and will vary different from person to person. Fandom can be like a dog with a bone, once it grabs hold of something it won't let go. So many fandoms have dominant ships and everyone else is just SOL.
