I wish I had more gamer friends irl to nerd out with- I mean, I do have friends irl who game, but no one else plays adventure games and rpgs like me, or if they do they have like, major sexism issues that makes it unpleasant to discuss with them. All the sexism in video game fandom honestly makes me nervous to try to get more in touch with the community, which is a shame.

Same here. I'd love some gamer friends who were into RPGs (especially my semi-obscure favourites like .hack//G.U. and The Last Story), but the prevalence of creepy sexist dudebros means I'm in no hurry to actually seek people out.

Ugh, the last time I went to a gaming event I got harrassed by a bunch of drunk dudes who apparently thought that me being there alone meant I was looking to hook up with them. I actually changed my seat (it was a concert) and they fucking followed me. Ended up leaving early and standing by a cop car while waiting for my taxi. Stuff like that is why I buy games through the internet and don't hang out in game stores. -_-
