Inspired by the secret yesterday that basically went "I always watch the things my friends rec to me so we can talk about it together..." and the the fact that I've been thinking about Trailer Park Boys all day and there was a secret that was sort about the show, what things do you love that you wish you could get your fandom or real life friends into?

Obviously, for me, Trailer Park Boys. It's so great and hilarious and, like, the best show ever, but it doesn't have that many fans that I can find. I keep on trying to get fandom and rl friends into it, though.

I wish I had more gamer friends irl to nerd out with- I mean, I do have friends irl who game, but no one else plays adventure games and rpgs like me, or if they do they have like, major sexism issues that makes it unpleasant to discuss with them. All the sexism in video game fandom honestly makes me nervous to try to get more in touch with the community, which is a shame.

Same here. I'd love some gamer friends who were into RPGs (especially my semi-obscure favourites like .hack//G.U. and The Last Story), but the prevalence of creepy sexist dudebros means I'm in no hurry to actually seek people out.

Also wishing for gamer friends. And wish I had some friends to gush and/or complain about White Collar with.

Fanfic recs. I love finding and sharing goodfic (I have a recs site, I'm driving the crack-van for anime this month, and in June I was the special reccer at het-reccers), but none of my friends are nearly as into it. Two or three on my flist rec the odd story they liked every so often, but that's it.

I'd like to talk shop with other dedicated goodfic seekers and reccers. IDK what we'd actually talk about, but it would be fun to try someday...

Quite a lot of things that I'm into. Someone who actually reads science fiction / fantasy would be really nice.

But less broadly, Kids in the Hall. That show is so funny.

I got into a German band called Die Ärzte a while back and I was constantly putting their stuff up on my LJ and DW. Until I realized I was overdoing it a bit and cut back. Though I still do post their stuff now and then, and one of my friends did start liking it so that was cool.

I even started talking about them to one guy at work, until I found out he really only listens to rap and decided to leave him alone. (It was partly payback though because he was always trying to get me into Dexter.)

Specifically, I really want one friend in particular to be into it (she writes the best fic and the best meta and I love talking with her about all things) but if I could just get all my friends to be in all my fandoms with me, I would be the happiest person ever. I don't really like having "RL friends" and then "fandom friends"--I want them to be one and the same.

Video games (Halo, Assassin's Creed, Uncharted, BioShock, etc etc), Justified, Spartacus, Suits, Tiger and Bunny, Haven, Drop Dead Diva, Doctor Who...

(Basically most things I like, lol.)

Touhou Project and cartoon shows. Just because it's a video game doesn't mean the music's bad.

CONFESSION: I think I'd really like the Touhou games, but I'm kind of at a loss when it comes to getting into it. I've played Mountain of Faith but that's it. I don't know what games are considered essential (or where to find them) and as far as the story/characters are concerned I only know the basic premise. There's just...a lot of stuff out there and I don't know where to start. ;o;

Comic books. Most of my RL friends are casual fans, and the one who's slightly more than that doesn't really read the indie titles I want to geek out about. And since I just got back into DC for the first time in years, I really want someone to talk to about it!

But I'm about to head to a comic fans meetup tonight, so maybe that will change?

RL friends: fandom in general :( It would be really nice to have someone into that alongside me.

Right now, it is Babylon 5. I want someone to talk about it with.

Funnily enough given today's secrets, Teen Wolf. I just really wish I could talk to someone about it (like, plot stuff and head canon stuff and not shippy stuff), but none of my friends seem interested and I don't want to push.

Also, maybe The Good Wife, although that's a harder thing to fangirl over really.

Also lately I've been on a Brothers & Sisters kick. It's enormous fun to watch the thing with my roommates and I wish I could find online active places that are not tumblr for it too.

EDIT: Oh yeah, Dangan Ronpa, always. But half the internet seems to love it these days, so.

Devil May Cry. I have so many feelings about it, but it's been years since I found anyone as crazy about it as I am; the gamers who like it tend not to be into the fandom side of it.

My best friend isn't a fandom person at all. Even on the rare occasion that we like the same things, she has no conception of shipping and meta and fanworks. I have never wanted to brainwash somebody so badly.

One Piece. I want my beta/best friend to at least try it. But she thinks it's stupid. I mean, it's fine. But we've never really shared fandoms, and I really wish we could.

I'd also accept One Piece gaining a fandom around the size of the Harry Potter one, pre-book seven. Overnight would be good. Not sure how many box-tops I need to send in for that, but I've been saving up.

Oh, there's like a bunch of video games I wish more people were into...

Skullgirls (ESPECIALLY on the fannish side, most of the people who play it are of the annoying super-serious dudebro competitive gamer type uuugggghhhh. I like talking about fighting game mechanics but I'd really love some story discussions and fic and stuff like that)

Aaand I like a lot of shmup/bullet hell games, and I'd like to have more people to talk to about them...but only WRT the gameplay. Like some of them have okay stories but I'm not that interested in them, I just want to squee about what levels are hard and strategies for scoring/1cc runs when you aren't the most amazing player ever. I know there are forums to talk about this stuff but honestly there's way more posturing than actual discussion that goes on in those places. :(

Pokemon games.

I have friends in my hometown to play Pokemon with, but no one in college. :/

Like everyone else - video games! I also wish I had friends to actually talk about the fandom side of Mass Effect with - I don't usually get into the fandom side of ANYTHING so it's kind of weird.

Currently? SWTOR. I REALLY want my bff to get into the game (so i'll have someone to play with when my boyfriend can't) since I know she liked KOTOR and KOTORII. But she's...not too keen on the MMO thing, even though I've assured her it's one of the tamer ones (so long as you stay off chat/out of the forums).
