The first big fanfic I wrote (seven years ago now) was an OFC, so I get where you're coming from. And I've left it up all these years because yeah, I did learn a lot while writing it. It did make me a better writer.

It made me a good enough writer to never do it again.

Personally? I'm proud of the lessons I learned -- not necessarily of the OFC I inflicted on an already-infested fandom while I was in the process of learning them.

People who constantly, repetitively, shamelessly write Mary-Sues for the entire span of their fanficcing careers? For them, I have no sympathy.
