I wish I had some useful advice to give you, OP, but honestly? I'm all HUMAN BEINGS, HOW DO THEY WORK most of the time anyway. At least online everyone else also has the no-body-language no-facial-expressions no-tone-of-voice handicap!

Basically I'm saying that if people come across well to each other in this purely textual medium where you can't even tell if the person you're talking to has showered recently, it's kind of a miracle. A miracle that can work for you! Maybe! I am clearly not an expert!
