I used to be pretty into hotch/reid until someone told me that morgan/reid existed. I can't even read hotch/reid anymore for some reason

Well, I still sometimes read Hotch/Reid, but yup, Morgan/Reid is my favorite, too, anon. \\\0//

And OP, so long as you're not raining on the parades of Hotch/Reid shippers, it's okay, ship what you want. :)

Hotch/Reid is basically the only pairing I ship in this fandom but I understand if you don't like it. Everybody can love/dislike what he want.

Um, no judgement here or anything but do you mind if I ask why? Or if you have any Hotch/Reid recs that might explain? I just can't see it myself and I've never read anything that came close to explaining it. I just have a hard time seeing what other people see in it.

Oh, and I'm not OP.

Not OP but...I could see it as a mentor type of romance, or a fatherly thing which weirds me out but a lot of people out there seem to like that.

Personally I always was intrigued of their relationship in the early seasons. Later they almost have no contact but before that they have some amazing scenes.

Especially during the Hankel case in which Hotch knows exactly what Reid means. This is pretty much the moment which started my pairing love.

Before them I tried to ship Morgan/Reid but somehow it never fits. I can't really explain my feelings but I always see them more as younger/older brother.

First I also thought Reid/Hotch have an father-son-relationship or mentorish but it don't see right for me. Gideon is more the mentor/father figure for Reid so what is Hotch? Sure, he is his boss but they have also some cute, funny or serious scenes and talks. There are friends. Reid is the first person who finds out the truth about Hotchs divorce and Hotch is the one who talks with him about this topic. Also Hotch is the first person Reid hugs after Hankel.

Sadly I'm not really good to explain in the matter to explain why I ship some pairings. Often it is a matter of chemistry I see between the actors. Or the pairing hits some of my kinks (here for example boss-employee, age difference, forbidden fruit through Hotchs marriage and some others).

Definitely one of my favourite CM ships. *g*

I can't seem to ship anything in the Criminal Minds fandom. I ship the idea of Prentiss/Hotch, Hotch/Morgan, and Morgan/Garcia, but I can't seem to read anything but gen fics for this fandom.

I don't ship any one on the team w/ each other - for one thing, it mostly seems like it'd just get incestuous and weird very quickly, for another because every member of the team seems like a person who is good and responsible and unlikely to get involved with something so sketchy and contrary to the rules. I just can't see Hotch getting involved in a relationship with someone under his command, it's exploitative and he takes his responsibilities as the leader of the team too seriously. (I do have a v detailed headcanon for JJ and Hotch about why they never hooked up but that's about it)

I always find it strange when people are physically ill because of a pairing. I just...that's just weird to me. I get not liking a pairing or a character or whatever, and I get being uncomfortable mentally but feeling queasy or sick? Don't get it.

It depends. I completely agree with Hotch/Reid. But I do understand certain kinds of ships making people feel sick. But I can't see any reason why Hotch/Reid would illicit that reaction.

Yeah I dont' know it's just weird. Why the leap from mental DNW to actual physical sickness?

It could hit too close to home for whatever reason, or it might be the people involved, or it might be that the squicked person has much too vivid of an imagination and/or too much curiosity (as in, "Oh, it's this pairing that I always see but don't really like. What's that? You say this author is really good and will make me understand with this pairing is so cool? Well, I'll humor you...." Five minutes later: "No, no, no, back button, stop, yuck.") The last isn't a very good reason, but it's still a reason.

I want to know what this is.

God, please no. It was bad enough when my last fandom got overrun by OOC/OC 'WRITE LETTERS HERE!' fanfics. I don't need fucking essays whining about how everyone should hold hands around the fireplace and sing kumbayah.

And fuck, you know the author's full of herself when the reply to the comments are 10x as long.

...this reads more like a rambling journal entry than anything approaching an essay. I mean, I know it's fandom and people can be as informal as they'd like, but putting it on the AO3 as a ~fandom meta essay~ strikes me as kinda lol-worthy.

Also, that's an awful lot of words to make a simple point.

Hotch/Reid freaks me out too, for some reason. The only Hotch pairings that don't weird me out are Hotch/Garcia (which is my second favorite ship for CM, actually) and Hotch/Rossi. I don't know why I have such a strong aversion to Hotch pairings, especially Hotch/Reid.
