It seems to me that the whole thing could have been better handled between Spoony and CA, rather than letting us all see what was happening on twitter.

I still think that Lupa should have called him out in private, especially if there were already things going on between Spoony and CA.

(Anonymous) 2012-09-22 12:36 am (UTC)(link)He was dismissed after he went on an insane rampage against his coworkers for daring to disagree with him. Either this is the most coincidental "business decision" ever, or he was let go because he was fucking nuts.

I honestly don't know. I'm stating what he said. He did say he was put on three-month suspension for his actions, and decided not to come back.

(Anonymous) 2012-09-22 01:09 am (UTC)(link)The thing on twitter really only expedited the whole thing.

we, as fans, shouldn't even know about this things.

Other than the potential "because it's not in the company's interest" (which could be true for a number of reasons, but could also be untrue for pretty much equally as many) has knowing any of this really affected how you watch videos or whether you go to TGWTG or Spoony's site or Blip to find them?
And as I said in a reply elsewhere -- no one got on a PA system and FORCED you to know this. You asked.

First of all, no, *I* didn't ask. In fact, although I follow most of the shows in TGWTG, I've been actively trying to avoid knowing about their personal lives more or less since Spoony broke up with Scarlett. Why? Because it's none of my damn business, and I think that, out of respect to them, fans shouldn't be actively looking for their personal information, at least not outside of what they choose to tell us in the videos themselves. And yet? I've found out about most of the dramas since them because sooner or later someone (a fan), comments about it in communities I frequent for other, non TGWTG content. And this is no fault of any of the contributors, but of the fans, and it is the fans who should stop sticking their noses into things. Taking the Spoony/Lupa incident as an example? As public as it was in twitter? There shouldn't be any sf_Drama, fandomwank_report, or similar threads around discussing Lupa's so-called fault. They had a public fall out, they fixed it behind closed doors, gave two statements, and fans should stop trying to fan the flames trying to make it bigger or a real Spoony vs. Lupa thing.
My problem is not with the contributors, or with what they choose to share with us, but with the fans' attitudes about it.
And yes, it did affect how I watched videos for a while, as knowing certain things made them incredibly awkward for me to watch. I like the videos, I admire many of them. But I think that the lengths some fans go to find information about their personal lives and to broadcast said information... it's a tad unhealthy.
So when I mentioned "This thing", I wasn't talking about the original tweet. I'm not even going to suggest that Spoony or anyone who has a web-based show stops hanging around social networks. I was talking about all the wank that followed caused by fans trying to second guess everyone's thoughts on the matter.
(FWIW, I also heard the stalking rumor. I don't remember if it was in sf_drama, or in the wank report, but it was being touted as fact)

(Anonymous) 2012-09-21 11:59 pm (UTC)(link)I'd heard the parts about Spoony and Lupa, but I had no idea that LordKat was part of that too. jeeez.

The transphobia and homophobia were pretty "amusing" too. If by amusing you mean sickening.

(Anonymous) 2012-09-22 03:15 am (UTC)(link)What Lord Kat said on his livestream was horrendous and inexcusable, just wanted to provide the context.
