Re: Dumb shit your classmates/friends/coworkers say?

When I was a teen, I lived in India for a short time because my parents worked with a missions organization. A few years later, I worked at Target, and I had mentioned a few times that I lived in India for a little while because my parents were missionaries.

Well, sometimes we got free samples of products to try out during team meetings from companies (I guess so we could recommend them to guests--that's customers in Target-speak). One night, we got to try out "Coca-Cola Black" which was basically cola + coffee.

Me: OH! Awesome! I LOVE coffee! Yay, caffeine!
Co-worker: *shocked* I thought you couldn't have caffeine!
Me: Huh? No, I can.
Co-worker: But...aren't you LDS?
Me: Huh? Oh, wait, Latter-Day Saint, right? Mormon? No, I'm just generic Protestant Christian.
Co-worker: But you said your parents were missionaries!
Me: Yeah, briefly. ...That's not only a Mormon thing.
Co-worker: Oh...

Now that I'm older I can see why that would be confusing but as a teen I thought that was hilarious.
