One time in engineering class, one guy asked for the molecular formula of ice. Answer? It's H2O. Yes, it's the molecular formula for water. Why are they the same? Because ice and water are the same thing except in different states (solid vs. liquid)...

Resister bands are color coded more-or-less in order by colors of the rainbow with additions. Easy to remember right? Apparently not for this poor dude, because not only did he not know any order for colors of the rainbow, he couldn't imagine how a rainbow looks like irl. He said the color between yellow and blue on a rainbow is purple. Again, this is a college-level course. I don't know what kind of rainbows he saw, but it sure wasn't an earthly one!

During a student info session, the student advisor in charge of timetable conflicts and changes said her office is located in room 305. Anyone with timetable issues should go to her. Five minutes later, while she was talking about what tutoring services available to the students, one student asked, "so room 305 the office for tutors?" "No, room 305 is my office."

Some people are special.
