That was a moving secret OP. I hope things are well for you.

I'm so sorry, anon.

And I understand. I wouldn't say my little sister has bipolar disorder (it wouldn't quite surprise me if she got diagnosed one day--our mother has it, and my sister is a very extreme, often unhappy sort of person), but she is very difficult and lashes out, especially with her family. The scene where Thor asks Loki to "come home" and the way his voice broke when he said it about reduced me to tears in the theater, because I've been there, that moment when you love someone and they're hurting themselves and you and your family, and you don't know whether to hug them or shake them or hit them or just hold on and beg that they stop... I thought Hemsworth did that expression pretty spot-on.

Honestly, it makes the new baby!Loki stuff resonate pretty hard with me too (I have no idea how that's been turning out, though according to tumblr--sadly). The idea of somehow bringing your sibling back to an age Before Everything Went Wrong is a pretty powerful one.

Anyway. I'm really sorry you had to go through that, and I'm sorry you miss your sister. I hope, in some way, the movie is cathartic for you. Jedi hugs.

Losing people to their demons is the worst. And I've had fiction hit me with "relating so hard I've got tears streaming down my face" too. It's always difficult. But sometimes, it helps to just cry. For your sister, for yourself, for the fictional character who unwittingly whacked your issues ... My heart goes out to you, OP. :(

I feel for you, OP, but nothing about him reminds me of bipolar disorder (I'm Type I) so much as a personality disorder. Are you sure that's what your sister has?

Had, not has, anon. Better reread the last line of this secret. I miss her. It appears the secret maker is implying their sister is deceased, which just makes this secret that much more heartbreaking.

I interpreted it as OP no longer has contact with their sister. It is very common for the mentally ill to become estranged from their family when the family becomes fed up with their behavior. Suicide attempts occur in up to half of all those with bipolar disorder and death can certainly occur from a mania-related issue (mine manifests itself in reckless driving among other things- I've been very lucky not to have been seriously injured in any of the numerous accidents I've caused), but estrangement is a little more likely.
