is that broccoli? whatever it is, it's kind of weirding me out. And what do you mean by being burned too many times before? Not really sure how that works in the context of fan interaction. Though I wouldn't say it's pathetic, I think it's kind of reasonable to feel uncomfortable because sometimes fans can do really awkward stuff...

Pretty sure that's kale. It's a Misha Collins reference. He said some weird stuff about liking kale and no one would drop it for ages. I remember seeing some video on youtube where someone asked him about his love for kale and he was like "...wha...? OH!" *makes up random shit to keep the joke going*

ah ok, thanks for explaining! I've never heard of kale before. That's the weirdest looking cabbage I've ever seen.

I love broccoli but what???

What happens in fandom should stay in fandom! That's my slogan and I'm sticking to it.

/unpopular opinion
I never liked how 'involved' Misha was in fandom culture. Didn't he read slash-fic at a con once? Of his own violation? Maybe this is just some random lie I heard (had dropped out of the fandom by then), but nothing would surprise me with that man. That shit is embarrassing to me too, so I feel you on that OP.

"of his own violation" is a beautiful typo

Considering the fandom, are we sure that's a typo?

I knew I should have read that comment again for typos... D:

Though, again, in this fandom, you never know.

"What happens in fandom should stay in fandom"
I wish more people followed this advice. It's not only embarrassing but just plain creepy sometimes, like when they harass actors about shipping them with their co-stars.

(Anonymous) 2012-09-26 01:15 am (UTC)(link)
Agreed. Also I wish some fans would get an 'inside voice', not every sexual fantasy, crazy though, or story of yelling at friends and family over said celebrity crush, needs to be blasted all over the tag...in public....for all to see..

...Tumblr. >_>

The story I heard was he was reading bad slashfic to the crowd and the author was in the audience and it embarrassed the shit out of her.

ITA about feeling uncomfortable about being too involved in a fandom (that goes for anyone, not just the actors). For some reason with SPN, it seems like some of the fans feel some sense of ownership over the actors, and it's creepy as hell. It's one thing to like a character or think that IRL an actor is a good person. But it's another thing to think that they owe you something, or that you have some sort of "friendship".

From what I have seen Misha has kind of chilled out his trolling. But now he's got a couple kids and probably doesn't want to leave an open invite to the crazy anymore.

I had kale for dinner and it was delicious! (I have no idea what it has to do with Misha, but I do agree that fandom people can get creepy about interacting with celebrities on the internet.)

I've been feeling this way lately about Grey Deslisle on Tumblr/Twitter. I mean, it's fun to see her posts, but sometimes it's just... embarrassing to see people interact with her. I remember seeing someone like "let's draw/write all the Zucest and send it to her!" and I was like OH FUCK NO WHY!? But then later I saw that she'd actually asked for that, which... is odd and makes it a little better, but I'm still embarrassed.

Well, yeah. I've an RPF squick a mile wide, but Misha Collins? Pththth, the dude rolls in it.

(Anonymous) 2012-09-26 01:47 am (UTC)(link)
How a celebrity reading your shitty fanfic make it more embarrassing? Isnt already sad that we, grow ass adults write and draw senseless buttsex scenes?

(Anonymous) 2012-09-26 03:38 am (UTC)(link)
I thought that's what adults did. Write, draw and HAVE senseless buttsex scenes.

(Anonymous) 2012-09-26 02:43 am (UTC)(link)
I'm normally uncomfortable with this, too. Misha Collins is an amazing troll, of course, but Richard Speight, Jr. isn't bad, either.

(Anonymous) 2012-09-26 03:17 am (UTC)(link)
I don't see a problem with sharing stuff if the option is there (as long as it's kept respectful and there are boundaries.... which seems to be hard for some people....) and the celeb/etc in question has expressed interest in seeing what his/her fans get up to.

There's a line though, creepy shit is awkward and totally makes me facepalm.

Most of the time IA, but sometimes it's funny and harmless. It's one thing to show them, like, slash fanart, but just joking about something silly can be fun. And some actors (esp. the clueless new ones who don't really know how insane fandom can be) seem really charmed by it. ...And then there's Misha. Oh, Misha.

(Anonymous) 2012-09-26 04:33 am (UTC)(link)
Pretty sure Misha Trollins isn't even a real person at this point, he's a character. An awesome character, but a character nonetheless.

I find it uncomfortable as well if the characters I like have actors playing them. It was hard for me to ship characters from movies because I'd be reminded of the actors every time I looked at them.
