I'm white; a European immigrant mutt. My father's side is all Eastern European Jewish. My mother's side is all Catholics: Greek (we're descendents of Crusaders!), Scottish, and Croatian.

Well the Croatian thing is kind of complicated. My great-grandmother was born in the Austro-Hungarian Empire and her native language was Italian. After WWI she lived in what for a while was called the Free State of Fiume and is now Rijeka, first in Yugoslavia and now in Croatia. Complicated!

Heh, I have a few ancestors with no easy answer to their nationality. One set of great-great-grandparents were born in Vilnius, which is now Lithuania (and their family had been there for generations), but they spoke Russian and consider themselves to be Russian nationals. And my great-grandfather was from Galicia, was ethnically Polish, but spoke Austrian and ended up moving to Vienna. Oh, national borders!
