So I know one of the stereotypes of internet fandom is that almost everyone is white. But I was wondering how true is that? I can say about 75% of my fandom friends are not white. What ethnicity are you?

1/4 Native American, 1/4 Hispanic and half white, and I look kind of toasty brown.

I don't really "identify" as any of that though. (Mainly because I don't know what that really means, beyond the statement that "some of my relatives were from Mexico, some were native to the US-area and some were from various places in Europe.")

Eastern European Jewish. I don't even know what box to check on those race questionnaires. My skin is lily-white, but I have a few millenia of oppression at my back, and if I live in the wrong part of the country/world, I'd have to seriously worry about my ethnicity getting me harassed or even killed.

African American~

White as hell.

Specifically, Irish descent on my dad's side, mixed New Englander on the mother's.

Half Irish American and half Puerto Rican. And since I am repeatedly mistaken for German and Eastern European, I guess that makes me white. (No one ever guesses Irish or Puerto Rican. NO ONE! And I've got freckles, dammit!)

I'm pretty damn white. ^^; Mostly English, with some Irish and Welsh, I believe. I do have a little bit of Native American blood in me from a few different tribes, but it adds up to a low enough percentage that it doesn't affect me in daily life and I don't count myself as part of that culture.

I'm white, Scandinavian if that matters?

Uhm...yep. If I were any whiter, I'd be a ghost. Canadian with pretty much pure British Isles ancestry.

Half Eastern European Jew, half Scandanavian WASP. I've got some Mohawk native blood from three generations back, but since I never knew them, I feel wrong about claiming that ancestry. But both my Jewish and Icelandic relatives seem quite keen on claiming me, so I'll go with that.

(So pretty much crazy white)

White as a sheet, but I think most US Americans wouldn't call me that, since I was born in South America and they seem to think there aren't white people here.

White, oh so white. Half Russian-Jewish, other half is...Irish, Scottish, and french. I have some great grandmothers that were Native American and looked it...but since I don't look it at all I don't feel I should be able to count that, lol.

I'm white, half German and of English/Welsh/Finnish descent

English on my mother's side. Ugandan-Asian on my father's side. An interesting mix, because it means people assume I'm either Italian or Spanish.

I'm white; a European immigrant mutt. My father's side is all Eastern European Jewish. My mother's side is all Catholics: Greek (we're descendents of Crusaders!), Scottish, and Croatian.

Well the Croatian thing is kind of complicated. My great-grandmother was born in the Austro-Hungarian Empire and her native language was Italian. After WWI she lived in what for a while was called the Free State of Fiume and is now Rijeka, first in Yugoslavia and now in Croatia. Complicated!

May I say as a kind of off topic that I'm always weirded out when I hear people describing ethnicities as per cents? It's a cultural thing, of course, but in my country we don't do that at all. Heck, I don't even know the difference between Hispanic and white.

I'm from South America and consider myself white, my grandparents are from Italy and Spain, does that count?
