Better? If anything, dubs have gotten worse. All the good VAs have gone on to other things or simply don't dub as much as they used to, or have gotten so overused that I'm sick of hearing them everywhere. There have been decent dubs (Baccano! and Cowboy Bebop come to mind), but they are just as few and far between as they used to be.

I like to view the original they way it was intended. No Americanization, no intended (or unintended) edits, less things lost in translation (helps to know some Japanese, since subs don't always translate things well either). It's not just anime, ANYTHING I watch that's originally in another language, I prefer subs.

That and having no TV, subs are actually more readily available to me. It's a lot easier to find subs for things online than dubs. I also enjoy watching series as they come out, not 5 years later when it may or may not be released in English.
